Las Hogueras de San Juan

Las Hogueras de San Juan - or the Bonfires of Saint John - is the most important festival on Alicante's jam-packed cultural calendar. While the eating, dancing and partying typical of any Spanish celebration of course play a part, the real fun comes in the form of fireworks and massive and elaborate papier-mâché constructions going up in flames!
