Immaculate Conception Festival

Torrevieja
These local festivals held to celebrate the Immaculate Conception will feature a paella contest, religious processions, concerts and other musical events, fireworks and dancing.

Cinema Workshop

A series of workshops will take place at MACA to help introduce people to the world of cinema as artistic expression. A must-visit for those interested in film.

Agost Dances of the Moorish Kings
26 December – 1 January
Alicante
Traditional dances which are performed nearly everyday during this period. The dance involves a number of ‘Danseros’ who wear a suit and hat, who then take the girl dancers to the square by the Town Hall for a dance.

Javier Lorenzo’s paintings are characterized by his use of nature to create intimate scenes of daily life. This exhibition will see him treat the human condition and the ephemeral aspects of the everyday.

Dragonfly

Originally formed in Buenos Aires in 2000, this band is now made up of a mix of Argentinians and Spaniards. This rock band have since had success in Spain, working with the likes of ‘Mago de Oz’.

Huecco

Without doubt, one of the most famous Spanish artists of the moment, Huecco sings hispano-latino style music with a great beat.

El Sueño de Morfeo
12 December, 8.30pm
Teatro Principal, Plaza Ruperto Chapí, s/n, 03001, Alicante
El Sueño de Morfeo are a band from Asturias, lead by the lead singer Raquel Rosario, originally from the Canaries. All the band members have different musical backgrounds which means the band is a mixture of pop, rock and folk.

David Bisbal was the winner of the first edition of the talent show, ‘Operación Triunfo’, and has actually been a success. He sings latino style music and often incorporates acoustic music into his shows.

Francisco González Sarria is one of Spain’s most well known Latino singers. Born in Alcoy in Alicante, the singer is returning to his home region to sing a collection of hits, including many Italian influenced songs.

The New Raemon

Former lead singer of Madee, Ramón Rodríguez is now pursuing his solo career with a much more melancholy and pop music style in his latest project ‘The New Raemon’.

La Celestina is a famous literary classic written by the autor Fernando de Rojas at the end of the 15th century. However, the director of this version has modernised the work, but has managed to keep the rich linguistic elements.

A spectacular display of contemporary dance performed by child ballerinas. The production was choreographed to represent the works by the painter René Magritte.

The famous Spanish comedian from Salamanca will be performing a varied routine which will include some of his most sarcastic humour and his own songs.

El Lago de los Cisnes
Swan Lake 18 December
Auditori de la Mediterrània, Plaça de l’Almássera, 1, La Nucia
The famous ballet by Tchaikovsky will be performed by the Moscow Ballet. Swan Lake tells the story of an impossible love across four acts, expertly performed by the main dancers Ekaterina Bortyakova and Akzhol Mussakhanov.

Outlaw verses and hidden songs 21 December, 8.30pm

A poetry show where Sancho Gracia will be reading various texts, stories, poems as well as a number of songs, all of which recount things from his past. Plus he improvises a lot on stage too so you are sure to hear something new!
